더 몬스터남편과 이혼 한 캐시(조 카잔)는 딸 리지(엘라 밸런타인)를 전 남편에게 데려다주기로 되어있지만, 전날의 심한 과음은 그녀에게 늦잠을 자도록 하고 말았다. 덕분에 해가 중천에 떠있을 때 일어나게 된 캐시. 아침부터 그 일로 인해 딸과 다투게 된 그녀는 전 남편의 집으로 늦은 출발을 하게 된다. 한 밤 중이 되도록 도착을 못한 캐시 모녀. 설상가상으로 빗 길에 타이어가 펑크 나고 마는 캐시는 늑대까지 치게 되며, 차가 크게 파손되고 만다. 급히 911에 신고를 하는 캐시와 리지. 그러는 동안 그들은 길가에서 음험한 분위기를 느끼며 공포와 싸우게 된다. 한참 후 먼저 견인차가 도착을 하고, 간신히 마음을 놓게 되는 캐시와 리지. 그 순간 숲 속에서 커다란 괴물이 견인차 기사를 공격하게 되고, 모녀는 자신들이 걱정했던 일이 사실로 나타났다는 것을 알게 되는데...
