グレムリン2／新・種・誕・生 (1990)Ｓ・スピルバーグが製作総指揮して大ヒットしたSFコメディ「グレムリン」の6年後に作られた続編。三つの決まりを守らないと非常事態を引き起こしてしまう珍獣モグワイが、本作では巨大都市ニューヨークへ。モグワイから生まれたモンスターたちが大都会で前作以上のパニックを巻き起こす。 6年前、地方の町で小動物モグワイが起こした大騒動を体験したビリーは、恋人ケイトと二人そろってニューヨークで新生活を送っていた。マンハッタンの真ん中の高層ビル、大富豪クランプの所有するクランプ・センターで働くビジネスマンになっていた。その近くにある再開発が進むチャイナタウンでは、研究所職員に拾われたモグワイの1匹であるギズモが“クランプ・センター”の研究所に連れて行かれてしまう。ビリーはモグワイと再会するも、またしても偶然と失敗が折り重なってモグワイの体からグレムリンが発生、しかも今度はセンターの研究所で開発中のバイオ・テクノロジーと融合、突然変異した新種のグレムリンが大量発生し、タワー中を大パニックに陥れていく。
