Hell Comes to Frogtown

Hell Comes to Frogtown'Hell' is the name of the hero of the story. He's a prisoner of the women who now run the USA after a nuclear/biological war. Results of the war are that mutants have evolved, and the human race is in danger of extinction due to infertility. Hell is given the task of helping in the rescue of a group of fertile women from the harem of the mutant leader (resembling a frog). Hell cannot escape since he has a bomb attached to his private parts which will detonate if he strays more than a few hundred yards from his guard.

グレムリン2／新・種・誕・生Ｓ・スピルバーグが製作総指揮して大ヒットしたSFコメディ「グレムリン」の6年後に作られた続編。三つの決まりを守らないと非常事態を引き起こしてしまう珍獣モグワイが、本作では巨大都市ニューヨークへ。モグワイから生まれたモンスターたちが大都会で前作以上のパニックを巻き起こす。 6年前、地方の町で小動物モグワイが起こした大騒動を体験したビリーは、恋人ケイトと二人そろってニューヨークで新生活を送っていた。マンハッタンの真ん中の高層ビル、大富豪クランプの所有するクランプ・センターで働くビジネスマンになっていた。その近くにある再開発が進むチャイナタウンでは、研究所職員に拾われたモグワイの1匹であるギズモが“クランプ・センター”の研究所に連れて行かれてしまう。ビリーはモグワイと再会するも、またしても偶然と失敗が折り重なってモグワイの体からグレムリンが発生、しかも今度はセンターの研究所で開発中のバイオ・テクノロジーと融合、突然変異した新種のグレムリンが大量発生し、タワー中を大パニックに陥れていく。

ザ・フライ

ザ・フライＧ・ランジュランの古典小説「蠅」を、やはりSFホラー映画の名作である1958年作「蝿男の恐怖」に続いて２度目の映画化。誤った科学技術の進歩が1組の男女にもたらす悲劇を、優れた特殊メイク（第59回アカデミー賞メイクアップ賞受賞）を駆使してリアルに描いた。物質移動と遺伝子組み換えについて研究している科学者セスは、物質を別の空間に転移する新装置“テレポッド”を発明する。セスと出会った雑誌記者のベロニカは装置のことを特ダネにしようと彼に提案し、やがて2人は愛し合う仲になる。やがてセスは自ら“テレポッド”の実験台になるが、装置の中に1匹のハエがまぎれ込んでいたせいで、彼の肉体に異常な変化が。なんとセスの肉体に、少しずつハエのような特徴が現われてくる。
