鬼哭神號事業有成、意氣風發的史蒂文•弗瑞林（Craig T.Nelson 飾）帶着妻子戴安（JoBeth Williams 飾）和三個孩子搬進了加利福尼亞某郊外社區。但在入住不久，怪事便頻繁發生。先是小女兒卡蘿（Heather O'Rourke 飾）夢遊，對着自動開啓漫屏雪花的電視機自言自語。接着便又不明物體從電視機中飄出，莫名的地震，破碎的玻璃杯……如此種種，攪得弗瑞林一家坐卧不定。過了不久，恐怖事件逐漸升級，卡蘿最終竟被拉入電視機中……

坏本Tom Riley thought he was getting the deal of a lifetime when he bought a house below market value at a Sheriff's sale. He invested every penny he had with the plan of flipping the home for a profit. Once he owned it, however, he noticed strange happenings, all of which were captured on 21 Surveillance Cameras located throughout the home inside and out. At first, he thought people were breaking in, but he soon realized he was dealing with something Paranormal.
