마더!

마더!시를 쓰는 남편(하비에르 바르뎀)과, 집을 꾸미는 아내(제니퍼 로렌스). 이들 부부의 보금자리는 남편이 결혼 전부터 살던 집인데, 이곳은 한때 큰 화재로 잿더미가 되었다가 아내의 헌신으로 재건되었다. 그러던 어느 날, 부부의 집에 손님이 찾아온다. 자신을 의사라고 소개하는 남자(에드 해리스)는 하룻밤 신세를 지는가 싶더니 부부의 집에서 떠날 생각을 하지 않는다. 설상가상으로 의사의 다른 가족들이 연달아 찾아오며 아내의 심기를 불편하게 한다. 하지만 아이디어의 고갈로 시를 쓰지 못하고 있던 남편은 낯선 손님들의 방문이 새로운 영감을 준다며 그들을 집에 머물게 하는데...
