28日後...動物愛護活動家が医療科学研究所を襲撃した。研究員はチンパンジーが危険な感染症にかかっていると警告するが活動家は耳を貸そうとしない。檻から出した途端、チンパンジーは研究員や活動家に襲いかかった。28日後。交通事故で昏睡状態に陥っていたバイク・メッセンジャーのジムは、ロンドン市内の病院の集中治療室で意識を取り戻す。ベッドから起き廊下をさまようジムだったが院内にはまったく人の気配がなかった。人の影を求めて街へ飛び出したジムは、そこで驚くべき光景を目にする。

28週後...人間を凶暴化させるウイルスが蔓延したロンドンを舞台に、生き残った人々の闘いを描いた2002年製作のサバイバルスリラー「28日後…」の続編。感染した人間が凶暴化する新種のウイルス「RAGE（レイジ）」の蔓延により壊滅したロンドン。ウイルス発生から28週後、安全宣言が出されたロンドンでは米軍を主導としたNATO軍の保護下でようやく街の再建が始まる。スペインへ旅行していたため難を逃れたタミーとアンディの姉弟も無事帰国し、軍の監視下に置かれた保護区域で父ドンと再会を果たす。亡くなった母の写真を取りに行こうと保護区域を抜け出し自宅へ向かった彼らは、なぜか生きていた母アリスと遭遇。アリスはウイルスに感染しても発病しないキャリアであることが判明するが……。
