Cloud吉井良介は、町工場に勤めながら “ラーテル” というハンドルネームを使い転売で日銭を稼いでいた。医療機器、バッグにフィギュア……売れるものなら何でもいい。安く仕入れて、高く売る、ただそれだけのこと。転売の仕事を教わった高専の先輩・村岡からの “デカい” 儲け話にも耳を傾けず、真面目にコツコツと悪事を働いていく。吉井にとって、増えていく預金残高だけが信じられる存在だった。そんな折、勤務先の社長・滝本から管理職への昇進を打診された吉井は、「3 年も働いたんだ。もう十分だろう」と固辞し、と、その足で辞職。郊外の湖畔に事務所兼自宅を借り、恋人・秋子との新しい生活をスタートする。地元の若者・佐野を雇い、転売業が軌道に乗ってきた矢先、吉井の周りで不審な出来事が重なり始める。徘徊する怪しげな車、割られた窓ガラス、付きまとう影、インターネット上の悪意——。負のスパイラルによって増長された憎悪はやがて実体を獲得し、狂気を宿した不特定多数の集団へと変貌。その標的となった吉井の「日常」は急速に破壊されていく……。
