フリークス『魔人ドラキュラ』でもベラ・ルゴシと組んだトッド・ブラウニング監督が、サーカスを舞台に裏切りと報復の世界を描いた1932年のホラーである。オルガ・バクラノヴァ演じる邪心のある空中ブランコ乗りの女性が、財産を目当てにサーカスの見世物である小人と結婚する。だがそれが、同じように「変わった」姿をしたサーカスの仲間たちに知られ、復讐される。
