アポカリプスZ ～終末の始まり～狂犬病のような感染症が地球上に蔓延し、人々は次々と攻撃的な生き物に変わっていく。そんな中、マネルは愛猫とともに自宅に身を隠し、知恵を絞って生き延びる。だがまもなく食料が底を突き、安全な場所を探すために陸や海へ旅立つことになる。

マギー未知のウイルスが世界中にまん延し、人々が次々とゾンビ化していく中、アメリカの田舎町で暮らす16歳のマギーも感染してしまう。彼女の父ウェイドは、隔離病棟に入っていた娘を捜し出して連れ戻す。家には、マギーにとっては義理の母にあたるキャロラインと、彼女とウェイドの間に生まれた2人の子供がいた。
