ブレア・ウィッチ製作費6万ドルという低予算作品ながら、世界中で記録的な大ヒットとなったホラー映画「ブレア・ウィッチ・プロジェクト」の17年ぶりとなる続編。大学生のヘザー、ジョシュ、マイクが、森に生息するという伝説の魔女「ブレア・ウィッチ」をテーマにしたドキュメンタリー映画製作のため、ブラック・ヒルズの森に分け入った。しかし3人はそのまま消息を絶ち、森に消えた。あの事件から20年後、ヘザーの弟ジェームズが姉らしき人物の映った映像をYouTube見つける。そして、ジェームズは仲間とともに、森の中へ足を踏み入れる。監督は「サプライズ」「ザ・ゲスト」などのホラー作品を手がけ、ハリウッド版「デスノート」の監督も務めるアダム・ウィンガード。

Crossing a vast mushroom circle, which provides their first meal, the group quickly descend into a chaos of arguments, fighting and paranoia, and, as it becomes clear that the treasure might be something other than gold, they slowly become victim to the terrifying energies trapped inside the field.
