あらすじ

New York society member Priscilla Maine is troubled by strange dreams in which she vividly sees members of the underworld involved in a murder. She confides this to her admirer, Dr. Philip Fosdick, who undertakes to solve the mystery.

インベージョンある日、スペースシャトルが原因不明の事故で地球に墜落。その残骸の中には、謎の生命体が付着していた。やがて間もなく、感情を失ったように人間の行動を変質させる謎の伝染病が発生する。そんな中、精神分析医のキャロルはこの病原体が地球上のものではないことを突き止める。そして、最愛の息子オリバーがウィルスの拡大を阻止する鍵を握っていることも分かるのだったが...。
オペラの怪人
オペラの怪人舞台は19世紀のパリ、オペラ座(ガルニエ宮)。迷路のように張めぐらされる地下に、人々が “ファントム” と呼ぶ謎の男が住みついている。支配人はファントムの為に特等席を用意しているが、誰もその姿を見た者はいない。ファントムは母親からも疎まれるほど醜い骸骨のような顔で生まれつき、その顔を仮面で隠し、誰にも知られることなくオペラ座の地下で孤独に生き抜いてきた。姿は醜いが繊細な心と音楽の才能に恵まれたファントムは、劇場の若手オペラ歌手クリスティーヌの若さと美貌、そしてなによりその歌声に魅了され、歌の手ほどきをするようになる。クリスティーヌは声だけのファントムの存在に恐れを抱きながらも、ファントムの “天使の歌声” に魅了される。ファントムはクリスティーヌを愛していて、自分も愛されたいと強く願い、クリスティーヌを地下にさらう。しかしクリスティーヌには幼馴染の貴族ラウルの存在があった。

The insane man invites them to stay and relax awhile, then regales them with his theories of crime. His heart begins to beat louder. Angles on the set are skewed to suggest the man's internal disarray.
