チャイルド・プレイシカゴを震撼させていた連続殺人鬼チャールズ・リー・レイは警察に追い詰められ、近くの玩具店へ逃げ込む。そこで彼は刑事に撃たれ、そばにあった人形に呪いの言葉を唱えながら絶命する。数日後、6歳の誕生日を迎えた少年アンディは、母カレンからおしゃべりするチャッキー人形をプレゼントされるが、その人形こそ、チャールズの魂が乗り移った呪いの人形だった。やがてアンディとカレンの周囲では奇怪な事件が起こりだした。
