霊幻道士ある日、街の富豪ヤンから先代である父親の改葬を依頼された道士カオ。ところが、墓地を掘り起こしてみると20年間も埋葬されていたにもかかわらず、遺体は全く腐敗していなかった。ヤンの父親は生前に大きな恨みを買っており、風水的に誤った方法で埋葬されていたためにキョンシーになりかけていたのだ。呪いが進行して危険な状態であると悟ったカオが遺体を引き取り、処置を施そうとするが弟子のミスによって遺体は完全にキョンシー化し、義荘から姿を消してしまった。その夜、ヤンはキョンシーとなった父親に襲われて殺害され、翌日に現場捜査に訪れた保安隊長ウェイの勘違いで、カオは殺人容疑者として逮捕されてしまうのであった。
