ザ・フライ (1986)Ｇ・ランジュランの古典小説「蠅」を、やはりSFホラー映画の名作である1958年作「蝿男の恐怖」に続いて２度目の映画化。誤った科学技術の進歩が1組の男女にもたらす悲劇を、優れた特殊メイク（第59回アカデミー賞メイクアップ賞受賞）を駆使してリアルに描いた。物質移動と遺伝子組み換えについて研究している科学者セスは、物質を別の空間に転移する新装置“テレポッド”を発明する。セスと出会った雑誌記者のベロニカは装置のことを特ダネにしようと彼に提案し、やがて2人は愛し合う仲になる。やがてセスは自ら“テレポッド”の実験台になるが、装置の中に1匹のハエがまぎれ込んでいたせいで、彼の肉体に異常な変化が。なんとセスの肉体に、少しずつハエのような特徴が現われてくる。

ミミック (1997)次々と子供を死に至らしめる未知の伝染病がNYで発生。被害が拡大するのを防ぐため、昆虫学者スーザンは感染源であるゴキブリを全滅させるべくアリとカマキリの遺伝子を合成した新種の昆虫<<ユダの血統>>を生み出す。
