Nie wiadomo skąd i dokąd zmierzają, ale wiadomo, że niosą ze sobą tajemnice wspólnej drogi. W karczmach i zajazdach, na weselu i w kolasie, wszędzie ślepy szlachcic dzieli się opowieściami o Stanisławie Wróblewskim herbu Krzywda. Wróblewski przemierza Rzeczpospolitą, stając się raz bohaterem, raz mimowolnym świadkiem wydarzeń budzących grozę. Świat w opowieściach bezimiennego szlachcica jest pełen demonów i diabłów – zaludniają go monstra rodem z przedchrześcijańskich wierzeń. Każda z historii opowiada o innym wydarzeniu z życia Stanisława Wróblewskiego: sejmiku, który zakończył się krwawą łaźnią, spokojnym świętowaniu, które przerodziło się w tragedię, czy nieszczęśliwej miłości gdzieś w górach na granicy z Siedmiogrodem. Każda pozwala lepiej zrozumieć, kim jest Stanisław Wróblewski. Wszystko zaś prowadzi do epilogu w karczmie na zamarzniętym Bałtyku, w którym bezimienny ślepiec spotyka swoją nemezis. „Krzywda” jest powieścią szkatułkową o losach człowieka bez domu, rzucanego z miejsca na miejsce od puszczy na Żmudzi, przez daleki ukraiński step i Prusy, po Karpaty.
