Trama

An electric current accidentally brings a female mummy back to life with decidedly romantic inclinations, much to the surprise of a young Egyptologist and his less than understanding fiancée. This film is presumed lost.

Turn-of-the-Century SurgeryGeorge Mélies made a version of this a few years later, often titled Une Indigestion, but Guy-Blaché’s earlier film Chirurgie Fin de Siecle (1900) is more widely available. And it’s not one to watch the night before an operation. In this clinic, a sign pleads “On est prie de ne pas crier/Please do not cry”, and the doctors set about the patient with saws, cheerily hacking off limbs, and then slopping them into a bucket, all the while arguing ferociously with each other. They then reattach arms and legs from a bucket of “exchange pieces” (using glue) before re-animating their victim, I mean patient, with bellows. Tutto cambia quando una squadra di umani in ricognizione alla ricerca di cibo si imbatte in un gruppo di zombie affamati e a caccia di prede: uno di loro, R, resta fortemente colpito da Julie, la ragazza di una delle sue vittime e, invece di mangiarne il cervello, decide di salvarla dalla furia dei compagni. Col passare dei giorni, la convivenza con Julie produce in R cambiamenti fino ad allora impensabili, che lo portano a credere che quel legame possa rappresentare la salvezza per l'umanità e i suoisimili: una salvezza ostacolata però da una parte da temibili "Ossuti" e dall'altra dall'esercito guidato da Grigio, il padre di Julie.
