Il quarto tipoLa dottoressa Abigail Tyler, detta Abbey, per capire la morte misteriosa del marito Will, decide di proseguirne gli studi e si reca a Nome, i cui abitanti soffrono di persistenti disturbi del sonno. Si svegliano di soprassalto e ricordano d'aver visto uno strano gufo alla finestra. Abbey ipnotizza Tommy, uno di loro, per scoprirne i ricordi inconsci. Quei ricordi sono però così terribili che l'uomo si rifiuta di parlarne. Se ne va a casa e tiene in ostaggio moglie e figli minacciando di ucciderli. Vuole che Abbey gli sveli il significato di alcune parole in una strana lingua. Quando Abbey non ci riesce, Tommy stermina la famiglia e si suicida. Grazie allo specialista dottor Odusami, Abbey scopre che quelle parole sono in lingua sumera e con l'aiuto del collega dottor Campos cerca di squarciare il velo del mistero.
