Eterea e piena di grazia Nina incarna alla perfezione il candore del cigno bianco e con difficoltà il suo doppio nero e tenebroso, che in una superba variazione ingannerà il suo principe e la voterà al suicidio. La ricerca del suo lato oscuro e della consapevolezza della propria sessualità la condurranno verso una tempesta emozionale e all'incontro con Lily, insidiosa rivale in nero. Dietro le quinte Nina si strugge e si predispone a 'doppiare' il suo cigno bianco.
