A down on their luck group of friends with aspirations of fame and fortune in the "ghost hunting" business stumble upon the real deal. Un po' per gioco, un po' per provare la sua nuova telecamera, di cui è particolarmente fiero, Micah decide di riprendere quasi tutto ciò che fanno lui e Katie, ma soprattutto di lasciare la telecamera accesa nella loro camera da letto, di notte, per verificare se effettivamente accada qualcosa mentre dormono. La presenza della videocamera sembra tuttavia scatenare un'escalation di attività paranormali e a soffrirne è soprattutto Katie, che si sente direttamente perseguitata dall'entità negativa.
