Synopsis

Follows the murder of a money-lending masseur by an impoverished samurai. The slain masseur's daughter will also fall victim to his curse, so that she can become empowered as an agent of her father's vengeance.

La Malédiction des Yokai (1968)Mr Tajimaya, homme d'affaires peu regardant, veut détruire une partie d'un village (qui est d'ailleurs un lieu sacré) pour à la place y construire un bordel, malgré le mécontentement des villageois. Il a hérité de cette terre en faisant jadis affaire avec Jinbei, ex-propriétaire du lieu, lui prêtant de l'argent afin d'acheter des médicaments pour sa femme malade. Jinbei, ne pouvant payer, avait mis en effet son terrain en gage. Profitant du passage d'un magistrat religieux (et corrompu) sans qui le lieu de pèlerinage n'aurait pu être détruit, Tajimaya organise une petite fête atypique: il invite un conteur pour qu'il raconte les "100 Histoires". La tradition veut qu'à chaque histoire, une bougie soit éteinte. Et qu'à la fin de la dernière histoire, tous les convives participent à un rituel pour conjurer le mauvais sort, sans quoi des fantômes et démons apparaîtraient...

Majin (1966)A Okamidani, les bruits qui proviennent de la montagne sacrée font craindre que ne se réveille Majin, un esprit guerrier enfermé dans une statue de pierre. Alors que se déroule une cérémonie destinée à l'apaiser, Hanabusa, le seigneur des lieux, est attaqué et tué dans sa demeure. Grâce à la réussite de ce complot, Samanosuke Odate devient le nouveau maître de la région, sur laquelle il va désormais faire régner la terreur. Le seul endroit où les enfants du seigneur assassiné peuvent désormais être en sécurité est la montagne interdite, résidence de Majin.
