Voilà que ce clown terrifiant est revenu hanter Derry, faisant à nouveau disparaître ses enfants. Mike est le seul à être resté dans cette ville, alertant ses amis de longue date dont certains hésitent à revenir. Depuis qu'un crime homophobe a été commis, rien n'est plus comme avant. Un homme dangereux s'est échappé d'un asile psychiatrique, cherchant également à s'en prendre au « Club des Ratés ». Ses membres ne s'en laissent pas imposer et ils doivent plonger dans leurs souvenirs - et demeurer unis - afin de remporter la bataille.
