According to an urban legend spreading in Japan, if you call an American number at midnight from your cell phone, you'll have a wish granted in exchange for a few minutes of your life. Some female students, stressed by poor school results and a barely functioning personal life, decide to dial the number, and from that moment on, everything changes. They'll realize they've sold their souls to the devil when a series of strange accidents and violent deaths begin to occur.

Elle rend visite au professeur Morikawa avec lequel elle a travaillé par le passé mais malheureusement, elle retrouve celui-ci mort. Cela semble être un suicide : l'homme s'est percé les yeux et a laissé une note étrange : Mizuchi (l'eau des morts). Kyoko décide alors de mener l'enquête mais les preuves matérielles font défaut. Pendant ce temps-là, la vague de suicide accompagnée d'yeux crevés semble continuer. Après avoir fait des recherches, Kyoko se rappelle de son entretien avec le professeur Morikawa et retrouve ainsi la signification de cette "eau des morts". L'explication la plus envisageable paraît être une malédiction qui pèse sur les personnes buvant l'eau du robinet provenant de la fontaine Yomi. Malédiction qui tire son origine d'un ancien mythe sur l'origine du Japon et la Mère Créatrice...
