You’re driving down a remote country road when suddenly your car breaks down. As dusk settles in, you decide to head toward the nearest town to fetch a can of fuel from the local gas station. Instead of following the road, you take a shortcut through the forest—because honestly, what could possibly go wrong? As the light fades and shadows thicken, something catches your eye among the moss on the forest floor. Is that… a phone? This is where your Odyssey begins.

Yume Nikki (2004)Yume Nikki is a 32-Bit freeware game created by Kikiyama, a Japanese solo game designer. The game was made using RPGMaker 2003. The game is regarded as one of the most original applications of RPGMaker 2003, and the start of a possible new genre of games. "Yume Nikki" means "Dream Diary" in Japanese, and the game follows a young girl named Madotsuki as she dreams. The goal is to seek out and acquire all 24 'Effects'. The game otherwise has no plot, and nearly the entire game is left up to speculation.

Push:Block (2019)Push:Block is a misshapen puzzle game about pushing blocks. Instead of being represented visually (which would have been sensible), everything is represented via text (which is not sensible). Push:Block features 30 levels of block-pushing action, original music, deep lore about a cult obsessed with cudgelling watermelons, and an allegorical narrative about friendship and community. I'm not sure if Push:Block is the kind of thing that can be enjoyed. But I hope that it is, and I hope you enjoy it.
