Synopsis
A devout and unyielding police sergeant travels to the remote, isolated Scottish island of Summerisle to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a local girl. Upon his arrival, he faces a wall of silence: the locals adamantly deny the child's existence and show a strange indifference to his search. As his investigation progresses, Howie discovers that the inhabitants have abandoned Christianity to embrace an ancient pagan cult centered on fertility and nature, led by Lord Summerisle. Trapped in a web of deceit, songs, and ancestral rituals, the sergeant must uncover the truth before the festivities reach their climax. Inspired by the work of David Pinner.
