Dracula: Pages from a Virgin's Diary (2002)Der Film beginnt mit Draculas Anreise per Schiff, desen gesamte Besatzung einen grausigen Tod sterben muss, während im Sanatorium Renfield den Meister erwartet und Lucy bereits jetzt schon in wonnige Verzückung gerät und noch vor der fünften Filmminute vom sehr charismatischen Dracula gebissen wird. Parallel zur Anreise sehen wir eine Landkarte, auf der satte Blutströme von Ost nach West rinnen, ein Zwischentitel verkündet panisch "IMMIGRANTS!" und damit wird bereits ein Interpretationsansatz eingeführt, der den Film bis zum Ende begleitet, ohne jedoch allzu aufdringlich zu werden: es geht Maddin hier um den kultivierten Briten, in dessen geordnete Welt der osteuropäische Ausländer hereinbricht und Arbeit, Geld und Frauen gleichermaßen zu gefährden scheint.
