Als Husk das vom FBI als „Bibel der rassistischen Rechten“ bezeichnete Buch The Turner Diaries liest, das den Aufbau einer Miliz empfiehlt und in sechs Phasen den Sturz der US-Regierung und einen anschließenden Rassenkrieg beschreibt, fallen ihm Parallelen zu den Vorfällen auf. Husk vermutet, dass die Gruppe durch das Buch indoktriniert wurde und politische Ziele verfolgt
