Biography
米ウィスコンシン州出身。90年代からMVやCMを手がけ、ジョージ・A・ロメロの「ゾンビ」をリメイクした「ドーン・オブ・ザ・デッド」（04）で映画監督デビュー。 続いて手がけた人気グラフィックノベルの映画化「300 スリーハンドレッド」（06）では陰影の強い独自の映像世界で注目を集め、その後も「ウォッチメン」（09）、「エンジェル ウォーズ」（11）とビジュアルにこだわった話題作を発表する。「ガフールの伝説」（10）では3DフルCGアニメーションに挑戦し、スーパーマン新シリーズ「マン・オブ・スティール」（13）と続編「バットマン vs スーパーマン ジャスティスの誕生」（16）でもメガホンをとった。そのスーパーマンをはじめDCコミックスのヒーローが集結した「ジャスティス・リーグ」（17）を手がけるが、家族の不幸があり途中降板。 後年、スナイダー監督が描きたかったかたちの「ジャスティス・リーグ ザック・スナイダーカット」（21）が発表された。近年は「アーミー・オブ・ザ・デッド」（21）、「REBEL MOON」2部作（23、24）などNetflixで話題作を多数手がけている。妻のデボラとともに立ち上げた制作会社「Cruel & Unusual Films」でプロデュース業も行う。
