Biography
“イタリアの宝石”と称される美人女優。大学生の時にアルバイトでモデルの仕事を始めたところ、たちまち売れっ子となり、1990年にTVドラマで女優デビューし、同年「Briganti（原題）」で映画デビューも果たす。92年、フランシス・フォード・コッポラ監督の「ドラキュラ」でハリウッドに進出し、仏伊合作のラブロマンス「アパートメント」（96）では、後の夫となる仏俳優のバンサン・カッセルと共演。カッセルと再共演した仏映画「ドーベルマン」（97）が世界的に大ヒットし、以後、ジュゼッペ・トルナトーレ監督の「マレーナ」（00）や、ギャスパー・ノエ監督作「アレックス」（02）で主演を務め、SF大作「マトリックス」3部作の2作目「リローデッド」と最終作「レボリューションズ」（ともに03）にも出演。メル・ギブソンがメガホンをとった「パッション」（04）ではマグダラのマリアを演じた。その後もイタリア国内外で活動し、「007」シリーズ第24弾「スペクター」（15）では、同シリーズ史上最高齢となる51歳（公開時）でボンドガールに起用された。カッセルとは99年に結婚し、娘が2人誕生したが、13年に破局した。
