Horror House
Horror HouseHorror House is the very first graphical adventure game published by Nihon Falcom in 1983. The title was created by a student of Kindai University named Fujio Fujimori who had previously had several games published inside the pages of Japanese computer magazines like I/O Magazine, RAM and others at the time. Horror House would be the first in a trilogy of games released by Falcom that were classified as "occultic mystery adventure" games with Horror House Part II releasing in December and Monster House releasing the next year in 1984.

The game involves the player solving puzzles by interacting with the environment through the use of a text parser and was an example of Falcom's technical know-how at the time. Every contemporary Japanese adventure game released for computers during this period would draw its graphics line-by-line and slowly fill in the colors, a long process that would need to be done anytime the scene changed to a new image. Demons Ring, on the other hand, could transition to different images in under half a second, a feature that was heavily advertised by Falcom and something that would eventually become a standard for the genre moving forward.

Makai FukkatsuA text-based adventure game developed by Soft Studio Wing released only in Japan. The story begins with the fact that one reporter Akira Kamishiro gets a call from a friend archaeologist - Professor Masunaga. As it turns out, with archaeological research has been stolen valuable artifact - "Divine Stone". At the same time in the nearby village disappears abbot of the local Buddhist temple. Trying to understand what happened, Kamishiro and Masunaga are involved in the chain of mystical events.
