Mercedes J. Ruehl ist eine US-amerikanische Film-, Bühnen- und Fernsehschauspielerin. Sie wurde mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet, darunter ein Oscar, ein Golden Globe, ein Tony Award, ein Drama Desk Award, zwei Obie Awards und zwei Outer Critics Circle Awards. Ihre bekannteste Filmrolle spielte sie in „König der Fischer“ (Originaltitel: „The Fisher King“). Für ihre Darstellung erhielt sie 1991 den Oscar als Beste Nebendarstellerin sowie einen American Comedy Award, einen Preis der Boston Society of Film Critics, einen Preis der Los Angeles Film Critics Association und einen Golden Globe. Ruehl ist außerdem bekannt für ihre Hauptrolle in dem Theaterstück „Lost in Yonkers“ (1990) und ihre Nebenrolle in dem Film „König der Fischer“ (Originaltitel: „The Fisher King“) (1991).
