Biografie
Benito Martinez (* 28. Juni 1971) ist ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, der vor allem für seine Rolle als Polizeihauptmann (später Stadtrat) David Aceveda in der gefeierten Krimiserie „The Shield“ des Senders FX Networks bekannt ist. Darüber hinaus lieh er Coyote Smith im Videospiel „Killer7“, Professor Candide in „Vanquish“ sowie mehreren Charakteren im PC-Spiel „Age of Empires III“ seine Stimme und spielte einen Kriminellen in „Firefly“. Er hatte außerdem eine Nebenrolle als Boxmanager in dem von Kritikern und Publikum gleichermaßen gefeierten Film „Million Dollar Baby“ und war als Salazar in „Star Trek: The Next Generation“ zu sehen. Benito Martinez absolvierte seine Schauspielausbildung an der London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in Earls Court, London, wo er gemeinsam mit dem Schauspieler Zen Gesner und der Schauspielerin Julie Hesmondhalgh studierte. Aktuell ist Martinez in der Serie „Saving Grace“ als Ehemann der Gerichtsmedizinerin zu sehen. Martinez wurde in Albuquerque, New Mexico, geboren und hat guatemaltekische Wurzeln. Er besitzt ein fortgeschrittenes Zertifikat im Bühnenkampf, das er während seines Studiums an der LAMDA erwarb. Seine Schwester Patrice ist Schauspielerin. Benito Martinez hatte einen Gastauftritt in der achten Staffel der Erfolgsserie „24“ mit Kiefer Sutherland.
