Biografie
Lila Kaye (7. November 1929 – 10. Januar 2012) war eine englische Schauspielerin. Sie arbeitete mehrere Jahre in den Vereinigten Staaten, am Broadway und im Fernsehen, bevor sie nach England zurückkehrte. Sie verkörperte häufig mütterliche und/oder komische Charaktere, vorwiegend im Fernsehen, darunter in „Cathy Come Home“ (1966) als Mitarbeiterin eines Obdachlosenheims und in „My Son Reuben“ (1975) an der Seite von Bernard Spear als jüdische Mutter und ihr unverheirateter Sohn, die gemeinsam eine Reinigung betreiben. Sie wirkte außerdem in Filmen wie „Blind Terror“ (1971), „Black Panther“ (1977) und „Quincy’s Quest“ (1979) mit und feierte spätere Erfolge mit ihren Rollen in „American Werewolf in London“ (1981) als innerlich zerrissene Landgastwirtin, die zwei amerikanische Rucksacktouristen vor dem sicheren Tod warnen will, in „Nuns on the Run“ (1990) als resolute Nonne und in „Reason for Living: The Jill Ireland Story“ (1991; ein US-amerikanischer Fernsehfilm), in dem sie Dorothy Ireland, die Mutter der an Krebs erkrankten Schauspielerin Jill Ireland (gespielt von Jill Clayburgh), verkörperte. Kaye spielte außerdem Mrs. Pennington in „Bert Rigby, You’re a Fool“ (1989) und Mrs. Cosgrove in „Dragonworld“ (1994).
